RECE

Rec 11 AUG 1

GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG. 20th. July, 1911.

Sir,

Gr. 226660.

Cocure !.

With reference to my Despatch No. 229 of

the 13th. ultimo, I have the honour to forward in duplicate a

petition, signed by various members of the Humphreys family, by

the small firm of Hutchison and Company and by the German Firm

now known as lessrs. Blackhead and Company (formerly called

Schwartzkopf), praying that the Food and Druge Amendment Ordi-

-nance (No. 20) of 1911 may be disallowed.

2.

That this is not the unenimous wish of

those engaged in the condensed milk trede in this Colony and of

the general public is clear from the fact that the bill was

introduced into Legislative Council as the result of representa-

- tions unanimously made by the Sanitary Board and that it was

passed unanimously by the members of Legislative Council after

very full discussion.

ERICHT HONOURABLE

LEWIS MARCOURT, M.P.,
